Dr.T.Eswaramohan completed his Doctorate degree in Reproductive Physiology from Faculty of Medicine, University of Colombo, Sri Lanka in 2008 during which he exposed external trainings at Institute of Biology, Molecular biology, Biochemistry and Biotechnology (IBMBB), University of Colombo. Also he obtained research experience in relations to IVF techniques at University of Warwick in 2005 and at University of York, UK, in 2007. He obtained his PhD in Animal Reproductive Physiology with speciality in Molecular Biology and Bioinformatics under Professor Eric H Karunanayake and Professor Kamani H Tennekoon. He extensively studied on the expression of leptin and leptin receptors in the female reproductive tract and effect of leptin in endometrial cell function using mammalian cells as in-vitro model. He also established optimized protocol for animal tissue culture at the IBMBB.

During Postgraduate studies good experiences obtained in handling of experimental animals (especially Rattusnorvegicus), sterilization of laboratory tools and equipment, in vitro cell culture techniques (including isolation of cells, trypsinization, subculture, three dimensional culture in metrigel, steroid & protein hormones stimulation, fixation and RNA extraction from the cell pellets, cryopreservation), ELISA, imunohistochemistry, western blotting, RT-PCR , operating bioanalyzer (using Agilent 2100) and sequencing techniques (using MegaBACE sequencing instrument, USA).

He identified novel correlation between Prolactin and IGF-I by means of exogenous leptin treatment on In-vitro model. Further he concluded that Biological effects of leptin on the rat endometrium include dose- and time-dependent stimulatory effects on stromal cell PRL secretion. Also he identified expression of leptin receptor isoforms in relation to female reproductive cycle.

Later he worked very briefly as a postdoctoral fellow with Prof.K.H.Tennekoon at IBMBB. He has gained significant experience in the microarray techniques and managed to optimize the major steps of the cDNA microarray protocols. He was involved in optimizing various intermediate steps such as primer annealing, cDNA synthesis, degradation of mRNA template, purification of cDNA, coupling cDNA with CyDye NHS ester, purification of CyDyelabeledcDNA, preparation of cDNA for hybridization and etc.

Dr.Eswaramohan has been supervising jointly with Professor S.N.Surendran, Department of Zoology for postgraduate students on various aspects on Malaria, Dengue and Leishmania related research.

Further he has actively been collaborating with Dr.A.Murugananthan in scorpion molecular taxonomy by means of DNA, sequencing technology and venom analysis by SDS-PAGE. This is a collaborative research at Department of Parsitology, Faculty of Medicine, University of Jaffna.

He is also collaborating in another study on “The prevalence of cutaneous leishmaniasis, its causative Leishmania species and possible animal reservoirs for the vector in Hambantota District”, with Department of Zoology, University of Ruhuna, Matara, Sri Lanka.

Dr.Eswaramohan further joined with Dr.Mrs.R.Gnaneswaran and Mrs.S.Pretheeba in a research work financially supported by Mangrove for Future Grant programme of the International Union for Conservation for Nature (IUCN/MFF/138) as the Principal Investigator. The field of the research was “Base Line Analysis of Development Opportunities for Thondaimanru Lagoon”. Currently he is applying his multidisciplinary skills to integrated science of applied Zoology for various researches.

Further he has been involved few of Research grants /Innovative grant for various activities in University of Jaffna

He served as the Grant Coordinator for Quality Innovation grant of World Bank awarded through Higher Education for Twenty-first Century project (HETC/QIG/R1/W2/JFN/Bio) to Biological Science study programme, University of Jaffna.
Rs 25 Million. Project period 2013 to 2015.
All proposed activities in the comprehensive proposals were successfully completed (100%).
The financial progress was 99.99%.

He served as the Principal Investigator of Mangrove for Future project research grant through IUCN (Grant Ref No MFF/138): Rs 2 897 950/= Project period 2014 to 2015. Titled “Base line analysis of development opportunities to Thondamanaru Lagoon, NP, Sri Lanka”. The financial progress was 95.42 percentage of allocated money through MFF grant. Out of total budgets of the project 83.99% contributed by MFF and the 16% contributed by co-finance. All proposed activities were completed.

he was a Co-investigator for National Research Council Grant (11-64) .Rs 2207125/= LKR Jointly with Prof S.N.Surendran. Titled Molecular Characterization of Sergentomyia (Diptera: Psychodidae in relation to leishmania transmission in Sri Lanka.(2012).

He is the Principal Investigator of Effect of oral contraceptive pills (OCP) on postpartum rats. (2012) Funded by University of Jaffna Under Research and enhancement fund (Rs 400 000/=).

he is the Principal Investigator for, A preliminary study on the serum level of Anti Mullerian hormone (AMH) and the the relationships with the subfertility. (2013) Funded by University of Jaffna Under Research and enhancement fund (Rs 165 000/=).

He was involved in the World Environmental Day celebrations and the Planation campaign among the selected 23 schools in Jaffna District on 5th June 2013.Funded by SEWALANKA Rs 60 000/=. and Plants were donated by Forest Department to all the participated schools.

He was involved in the Plantation Campaign and cleaning the beach at the Point Pedro Oct 2013 Partially funded by Forest Department. Rs 19400/=
