My broad research interests are rooted in ornithology. In particular, my approach uses both field- and laboratory-based research in Waterbirds. My current research focuses on Waterbirds of Northern Region of Sri Lanka.
For my undergraduate degrees, I have carried out my research in the field of Parasitology.
Honors dissertation: Gastrointestinal and blood parasites of a free grazing flock of sheep in Kaithady farm in the Jaffna District. (Supervisors: Prof R.P.V.J. Rajapakshe (Dept. of Veterinary Pathobiology, Faculty of Veterinary and Animal Science, University of Peradeniya, Sri Lanka) and Prof. Rupika Rajakaruna (Head/ Dept. of Zoology, University of Peradeniya, Peradeniya, Sri Lanka)
